...making bear mastery not scale down for multiple targets Didn’t find a suggestion forum and this seems appropriate place to post this. Here it goes: Current status Each time you deal a critical strike while in Bear Form, you have a 50% chance to gain Savage Defense, reducing the damage taken from the next physical attack that strikes you by 35% of your attack power. Mastery increases the %absorbed The problem The absorption shield can only absorb 1 hit. When tanking more than 1 target or tanking something with a fast attack, the shield uptime scales down, increasing number of unabsorbed hits. The more attackers (or number of attacks), the more the shield has a lower uptime. This does not happen for shield tanking classes, their mastery increases block%, block works the same regardless of number of attacks received per unit of time. The proposed solutions 1. Make the shield absorb x number of attacks in a unit of time following the initial absorb: Tanking more than 1 target * druid procs shield *shield goes up *first hit comes *shield absorbs it * for the next …0.5-1 seconds (below the swing timer of bosses as to not overpower bears in single target fights), shield absorbs x more attacks (x = 2,4,..etc, to be balanced by blizz, but don’t forget raid fights with many adds). 2.Make bleed crits able to proc savage defense This increases slightly the shield uptime on single target fights. Can be tied in with making bleeds scale with haste (more potential crits per unit of time = more absorbs, but will need a rather aggressive initial scale as to make haste a “want to get now” stat) Thrash bleed crits can proc the shield in a multiple (3+) tanking scenario Needs a small nerf to absorbed amount to compensate for single target increased mitigation and a buff to thrash bleed crit rate for multiple target. This will also bring bear aoe threat more in line with other tanks. 3. Make the shield proc out of incoming hits It will have to scale with incoming damage (low hit damage = low absorbed amount) Mastery increases %absorbed, up to X% of bear AP Mastery also increases chance of proccing shield This will require more tuning to be balanced, and makes bear shield very similar to block, which may not be intended. The most appropriate place would be the druid forums :) With the new forum, you place suggestions on the forum relevant to the suggestion :)As someone who plays bear tank, Im going to say just one thing. L2P This isnt WotLK, youre not supposed to be getting hit by lots of enemies at once. It isnt a problem if youre playing the game properly, and using CC. Even then, its obvious you dont understand the mechanics fully. If you are attacking more targets, you have more chances to get crits, so you have a higher chance to proc Savage Defense. Also you will be increasing your AP, and the amount absorbed by SD faster as vengeance will build up quicker when you are being hit by more enemies. |
