Cataclysm entry-level

Ive been asking myself this question a lot of times. Why is the entry-level for Cataclysm 80? I mean, You can enter Outlands from 58 and Northrend from 68. But I get the feeling that the entry level is supposed to be 78. Quest-wise its pretty possible being just 2 levels lower then what you accept. Also, just look at the dungeon blues (they require 78) and also plenty of green items can be worn at 78. So yeah, my question is, is it intended that its 80 for you to be able to go to cataclysm areas and quest? I just get the feeling that its intended to be otherwise (besides that it killed me on my mage knewing I had to advance another level as neither the heros call board nor mount hyjal (after flying there) offered me a quest at 78/79).

Cheers! :)It was 78 for part of the beta, but they changed it to 80 to balance quest flow and stat scaling.I doubt its an issue of stat scaling (why else make the gear available through AH and instances for 78 players?) and I doubt quest flow as well. There are plenty of quests you can do to reach 85. You can skip 2/3 zones completely if you want to get an 85 from 80.
